Massan, a Brazilian digital artist born in 1996 near Rio de Janeiro and based in Berlin since 2020, builds immersive 3D worlds that draw on Afro-Brazilian and Indigenous folklore, insect anatomy, and manga aesthetics, a method they've described as "fictional archaeology." Self-taught in 3D worldbuilding after an installation-art degree, they released the online game Third World in 2023 through London's Serpentine Galleries, using an interactive digital environment to explore inequality across Latin America. Their work has also shown up in commercial commissions for brands like Red Bull and Motorola, and in a 2023 Madonna concert production, an unusual crossover between gallery-based digital art and mainstream pop staging.
