Armand, a Dutch artist born in 1978 in The Hague and now based in Amsterdam, started out in cartooning and photography before settling into painting, particularly bold, patterned portraits informed by his Indonesian heritage that he's described as soulful depictions of tribal figures. Recent solo shows have taken him from Amsterdam's Bisou Gallery to Lisbon, Rotterdam, Brussels, and Berlin between 2023 and 2025, a steady, gallery-by-gallery build rather than one big breakout moment.
