Turpin switched from professional photography to painting during the COVID-19 pandemic, and now works from the Texas Hill Country making what she calls "flowerscapes": pastel pushed hard into unprimed canvas until the surface takes on a dense, almost fresco-like texture. Her flowers are deliberately, intentionally inaccurate botanically, invented stems and impossible structures, a choice meant to keep viewers responding emotionally rather than trying to identify a specific species. Her installation Garden Continuum, a seven-panel work stretching roughly 21 feet, and her first Los Angeles solo show, "The Light the Ground Gives," at Megan Mulrooney gallery in 2026, mark a fast rise for a career that only started a few years earlier.
