Kang, a South Korean textile artist based in London and trained at Central Saint Martins, builds woven sculptures and tapestries out of silk, linen, and jute, using wrapping, binding, and knotting techniques that deliberately leave the handmade process visible rather than smoothing it away. In 2017, the Victoria & Albert Museum acquired her work "Fall" for its permanent collection, a significant marker for an artist working in a medium, textile sculpture, that museums have historically been slower to collect than painting or conventional sculpture.
