Mohri builds kinetic installations out of ordinary household objects, buckets, tubing, umbrellas, wired together so they move, drip, or respond like small improvised machines. Her recurring series "Moré Moré (Leaky): Variations" recreates the makeshift bucket-and-tubing systems Tokyo train station workers actually use to catch ceiling leaks, turning an unglamorous piece of urban infrastructure maintenance into sculpture. Representing Japan at the 2024 Venice Biennale, she showed "Compose," an installation using rotting fruit wired with electrodes to generate sound and light, a piece that touched on pandemic isolation and the city's own history of flooding.
