About This Artwork

Box of Delights (2018) is a surreal fashion photograph by British photographer Tim Walker, known for transforming elaborate sets, extravagant costumes and fantastical narratives into carefully constructed visual worlds. The photograph features model James Spencer wearing a hat by Philip Treacy and fashion by Walter Van Beirendonck. Surrounded by oversized flowers, classical sculptures, artificial greenery and vivid yellow pathways, the figure inhabits a theatrical garden that blurs the boundaries between fashion, sculpture and fantasy. Walker draws on the visual language of fairy tales, theatrical set design and surrealism, creating an environment where familiar objects become strange and beauty takes on an eccentric, almost dreamlike quality.
