Composition of Flowers

by Jan Sluijters

When did art last move you?

Capture it before it fades.

Art experiences are fleeting. Capture the artwork, write one sentence, and keep the moment in your art journal.

That simple habit is the idea behind artjournal.ing.

About This Artwork

A vibrant, highly abstracted bouquet rendered in broad, energetic brushstrokes and saturated color — reds, blues, yellows and greens swirl together with black linear accents to suggest stems and petals. The work is an example of Jan Sluijters’ bold use of color and decorative, expressionist approach to still life. It reads as both a floral arrangement and an abstract composition, emphasizing rhythm and color over naturalistic detail.
