Personal Reflection
This makes me so anxious. Then I think - oh, at least it’s only one man. But I know that’s not true. It’s almost depressing. A man walks forward with conviction. Suit pressed, stride confident, also almost heroic. But he cannot see. He’s stepping off the edge. I feel like Banksy going 3D (if this is Banksy), stresses out how this exact issue is a louder wake up call.
About This Artwork
The sculpture appeared overnight in central London and features a suited man mid-stride, his face completely obscured by a flag, with a signature resembling Banksy’s etched into the base. It hasn’t been officially claimed, something the artist typically does via Instagram, so its authorship sits in that delicious gray zone between fact and myth. The symbolism aligns strongly with Banksy’s recurring themes: power, protest, and the absurdity of unquestioned systems. Even the placement matters: among monuments that celebrate certainty, this one introduces doubt. And unlike traditional statues: built to freeze a moment, this one feels like it’s still happening. Like the fall hasn’t completed yet.
