About This Artwork

Robert Nava’s paintings draw from a visual language that resembles children’s drawings, mythology, and early animation. His work intentionally rejects technical refinement in favor of direct mark-making and expressive forms. This approach challenges traditional ideas of skill and authorship, positioning imperfection as a valid and intentional aesthetic. His dragons and creatures operate as recurring figures, balancing between humor and unease.
