Personal Reflection
It looks immediate, almost too quick. But the longer I stayed, the more deliberate it felt. The lines are unstable, but they hold together. It made me think about how much effort usually goes into hiding effort. Here, nothing is hidden.
About This Artwork
Robert Nava’s paintings draw from a visual language that resembles children’s drawings, mythology, and early animation. His work intentionally rejects technical refinement in favor of direct mark-making and expressive forms. This approach challenges traditional ideas of skill and authorship, positioning imperfection as a valid and intentional aesthetic. His dragons and creatures operate as recurring figures, balancing between humor and unease.
