About This Artwork

RMB City is a long-term project by Cao Fei that exists within the virtual platform Second Life. It combines elements of Chinese urbanization, global capitalism, and digital culture into a speculative city. Rather than presenting a finished environment, the project functions as an evolving ecosystem where identity, labor, and architecture intersect. It reflects early explorations of virtual worlds that have become increasingly relevant in discussions around digital presence and online economies.
