Start Your JournalMy Body, My Data
by Kim Hankyul
Personal Reflection
There is movement, but it is not expressive. It feels functional, almost diagnostic. The materials suggest care, but also exposure. I kept thinking about how much of the body is now translated into signals and systems. The work doesn’t exaggerate that idea, it just presents it very directly.
About This Artwork
Kim Hankyul works with kinetic systems that combine industrial materials, sensors, and light to explore the relationship between the human body and technological environments. His installations often resemble laboratory setups, where the body is implied rather than represented. The work reflects ongoing shifts in how identity and physical presence are mediated through data, raising questions about control, visibility, and dependency on technological infrastructures.
