Personal Reflection
We rarely hear happiness discussed as something designed collectively. Today it’s usually framed as a personal optimization problem: better habits, better productivity, better therapy, better careers. What if happiness also depends on the structures we build together? Whether or not you agree with the exhibition’s politics, it’s difficult to leave without wondering if we’ve become better at imagining collapse than imagining alternatives.
About This Artwork
The exhibition begins with a quote often attributed to Fredric Jameson: “It is easier to imagine the end of the world than the end of capitalism.” Inspired by William Morris’ News from Nowhere, Serbian collective KURS fills the gallery with enormous hand-painted banners that feel somewhere between protest signs, poetry, and unfinished conversations.
