🕊️Personal Reflection
What makes these murals especially interesting is the canvas itself. The curved silos distort perspective, forcing artists to adapt their compositions to an industrial structure that was never meant to be viewed as art.
About This Artwork
Murals from the famous Silosi complex on the Danube waterfront in Dorćol. These abandoned grain silos have gradually transformed into one of Belgrade’s most recognizable open-air art spaces. Since 2021, several Serbian muralists have painted massive works across the cylindrical concrete structures, creating what is essentially a vertical urban gallery. This photo show parts of a collaborative project involving artists such as Jana Danilović and TKV. The central female figure surrounded by water, fish, birds, and botanical motifs reflects themes of ecology, the Danube, and humanity’s relationship with nature. The abstract forms on the left create an interesting dialogue between figurative and abstract mural traditions.
